Acceso currently operates a portfolio of three social businesses in Colombia, Haiti and El Salvador and an agtech tool (Extensio) founded in Mexico. Across our agribusinesses, we have impacted 35,000 smallholder farmers and farm workers, generating more than $80m in farmer income to date.
About this role:
The Manager or Director (title will be based on experience) of Institutional Partnerships is a new position, which will lead and strategically advise on Acceso’s global relationships with national, bilateral and multilateral funders. This position will collaborate with organizational leadership to build, maintain, and grow a healthy pipeline of opportunities toward the goal of increasing Acceso’s competitiveness in raising multi-year government funding. The Director/Manager of Institutional Partnerships will lead or advise country teams on building relationships with national-level funders including USAID, Global Affairs Canada, DFID, and International Development Banks (e.g. World Bank, IMF, IDB, ADB), and will use their strategic networking skills to generate new partnerships for Acceso.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain and grow a portfolio of top institutional donors in North America and Europe.
- Stay current on USG policy objectives and upcoming funding opportunities to help position Acceso for strategic partnerships.
- Build regional and national engagement strategies for bilateral and multilateral donors, including a strong organizational position with various Ministries of Agriculture, in collaboration with Country Teams.
- Create a strong position for Acceso with potential NGO partners, including prime recipients and subaward recipients and advise Acceso’s organizational leaders on successful partnership and consortium opportunities.
- Lead planning for meetings with institutional donors and guide end-to-end relationship management to ensure strong presentation and follow-through.
- Develop compelling investment cases/concept notes that are aligned with donors’ interests and advise on technical proposal development.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of Acceso’s solutions and strategies to create links between Acceso’s priorities and the priorities of potential partners and donors.
- Assist the Chief Development Officer and CEO with additional donor relationship management as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant professional experience in international development.
- Track record of winning funding from top government funders including Global Affairs Canada and other bilaterals and multilaterals.
- Proven experience evaluating, negotiating and working in consortiums with Primes and partner NGOs.
- Strong leadership, administration, management, presentation, reporting, communication, and diplomacy skills, including experience in high-level collaborations and partnerships.
- Solutions-oriented with an ability to creatively align organizational and funder priorities.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear and compelling prose.
- Established cultural competency in partnering with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse groups.
- Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income contexts; experience living in and/or working in a low-income country a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.
- Intrinsically motivated and comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial organization that is currently building systems for scale.
- Willingness to travel as needed (up to 30%).
- Located in Latin America or the Caribbean is highly preferred.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required. French fluency is preferred.
