  About this Role 

The Field Interviewer and Market Research Analyst will work closely with the Senior Director of Markets and Market team members in different geographical locations to support value chain assessments and strategic plans for Acceso social agribusinesses in the Dominican Republic.  The primary responsibility of this role will involve collecting first-party and third-party data using various research methodologies including, farmer interviews, processor interviews, customer interviews, stakeholder focus groups, and local and international institutional databases and reports.  The secondary responsibility will be to help analyze and input the data into a comprehensive value chain mapping and business model for the region.   

Key Responsibilities 

1. Analysis and Reporting  

  • Document, analyze, and organize data collected.  
  • Assist in the creation of reports and financial models.   
  • Help identify value chain process improvement opportunities.  
  • Help identify high potential farmers, competitors, partner organizations, and customers.  
  • Help check currently held assumptions about specific value chains.  

  2. Data Collection and Research  

  • Research market trends (national statistics, imports, exports, market data, market share, consumer behavior, domestic consumption, and competitive data) to find opportunities.  
  • Compile data of competitors or targeted agribusinesses.   
  • Collect and track costs and prices across agricultural value chains; identify seasonality of prices.  
  • Analyze export and import requirements.  
  • Analyze governmental policies and agricultural programs. 
  • Conduct extensive interviews with smallholder farmers and farming cooperatives.  
  • Organize interviews with potential customers.  
  • Interview customers to determine quality and taste preferences.  
  • Research and document agricultural practices  
  • Research and analyze logistics and input capacity and costs.  
  • Take and document photos along the value chain.  

  Other Skills and Attributes:   

1. Hard Skills   

  • Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, business, management or market research preferred.  
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in market research, market analysis, business performance analysis, or agriculture.  
  • Must have experience in food, agribusiness, or agriculture.  
  • Quantitate and qualitative analysis. Market research experience is ideal.  
  • Advanced user of MS Office Suite applications.  
  • Ability to manage, work and simplify vast amounts of data.
  • Exceptional communications skills, both in-person and writing.   
  • Strong research and analytical skills.  
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently; problem solver.   
  • Advanced user of MS Office Suite applications.  

  2. Soft Skills   

  • Strong ability to work independently and remotely.  
  • Inquisitive, proactive, detail-oriented, and organized.  
  • Collaborative in working with a team of different culture and language.

   3. Language skills:  Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English. All final assessments and analysis are composed in English.
