Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Our entrepreneurial model provides smallholder farmers with a sustainable way to participate in formalized markets, enabling them to work themselves out of poverty with dignity and to prosper. Acceso currently operates a portfolio of three social businesses in Colombia, Haiti and El Salvador and an agtech tool (Extensio) founded in Mexico. Across our agribusinesses, we have impacted nearly 35,000 smallholder farmers and farm workers, generating more than $80m in farmer income to date. 

About this role: 
The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis is a key advisor, partner and support to the CEO, CFO and LT, ensuring the CEO, CFO and LT can make best-informed data-driven decisions, that strategic financial targets are efficiently set throughout the organization and that strategic key results are monitored to delivery. Specifically, the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis will provide strategic and tactical guidance to the CEO, CFO and the LT at global, country and project levels, maximizing their capacity to forecast, plan and proactively manage result delivery throughout the organization.  

Key responsibilities: 

  1. Strategic Design 
    • Play a key role in building Acceso’s mid-term strategy and deliverables, the country-level mid-term and yearly strategies and deliverables and project-focused strategies and deliverables. 
    • Be a key strategic and tactical advisor to Acceso’s CEO, CFO and LT, landing the strategy into comprehensive financial models and building the tools to monitor results and ensure impact. 
    • Maximize Acceso’s capacity to efficiently grow revenues and deliver impact, by expanding our operations and deepening the impact of our deliverables. 
  2. Data Analysis and Forecasting 
    • Assist CEO and CFO in improving and updating the Acceso’s mid and long-term financial forecasts. 
    • Oversee annual country-level forecasting and reforecasting, including integrating all earned, restricted and unrestricted funding sources, activities and expenses.  
    • Conduct analyses on prospective debt funding opportunities. 
    • Conduct analyses on efficiency and social return on investment.  
    • Compile and present margin analysis and offer feedback on possible cost-savings. 
    • Provide support in analyzing the farmer lending portfolio and optimizing its financial and social impacts for both the organization and the farmers. 
    • Conduct analyses on financial effects of business decisions such as: adding a new products and expanding to new geographies. 
  3. Financial Reporting  
    • Consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports – gather information from multiple country finance teams, conduct spot checks on country financials, consolidate reports, and provide variance analyses. 
    • Support the CFO in managing the debt portfolio – this includes managing deadlines and reports to be submitted to lenders, tracking interest accruals, maintaining the loan tracking database, and other ad hoc support related to debt facilities.  
    • Support the CEO and CFO in the annual budgeting process – create and provide templates, consolidate information gathered from teams, create dashboards and other visual support for analysis. 
    • Support the CEO and CFO in preparing presentations, meeting content, and analysis for board meetings. 


Qualifications: 

  • BS or BA in Business Administration or other relevant field. 
  • Master Degree in Finance or related fields.  
  • 10+ years of financial analysis, consulting and strategic planning experience, including 5+ years as serving as member of senior leadership team or serving as a proactive and collaborative business partner to CEOs and/or CFOs. 
  • Management experience with international teams and complex projects, ideally in agriculture and food systems. 
  • Significant experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational plan.  
  • Experience in working with a large variety of stakeholders, including farmers, financial partners and corporations.  
  • Strategic planning skills, including both development and implementation.  
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring. 
  • Financial expertise, able to build financial models and analyze complex data to support informed decision-making. 
  • Process and efficiency skills, ability to identify areas of development in the organization to ensure efficient operations and team growth. 
  • Analytical minded, using data for decision making. 
  • Industry expertise, knowledge of the organization’s industry, market trends, and competitive landscape to provide strategic insights. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint  
  • Outstanding leadership skills with cross-cultural, multi-county and cross-functional teams 
  • Strong planning, risk-management, and problem-solving abilities.  
  • An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information.  
  • Strong external oral and written communication skills, adaptable to a variety of audiences and cultures.

  • Willingness to travel overseas to our countries of operation or other destinations aligned with our strategic growth.  
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to Acceso’s markets in LATAM and the Caribbean, and to our New York-based office.  
  • Language skills:  Fluency in English and Spanish. Haitian Creole or French a plus.
