Acceso currently operates a portfolio of three social businesses in Colombia, Haiti and El Salvador and an agtech tool (Extensio) founded in Mexico. Across our agribusinesses, we have impacted more than 26,000 smallholder farmers and farm workers, generating more than $60m in farmer income to date.
Acceso El Salvador is a social enterprise that has been working to strengthen local food systems since 2013. The enterprise is in an exciting growth phase to impact many more smallholder farmers and fishers across Central America. Acceso’s goal is to become the world’s most impactful and sustainable model to alleviate poverty at scale.
About this role:
Lead the communications strategy, policies, procedures, and manuals to accomplish Acceso El Salvador’s communication goals, according to internal guidelines and in compliance with donor requirements. The primary audience(s) are farmers, food system workers, SMEs, cooperatives and associations in target rural geographic areas in El Salvador (including priority populations of women and youth). Secondary audience(s) are Partners and target partners including local and international nonprofit organizations, private sector actors (including buyers), and local government partners.
Key responsibilities:
- Develops the communication strategy; develop and implement specific communication procedures/manuals/formats according to Acceso’s communication goals for target audiences and stakeholders/donor requirements.
- Write, review, and ensure the written quality control for all the communications that are developed and/or published in diverse media including internal and external reports, both in English and Spanish.
- Support in the elaboration of drafts speeches, talking points and statements as required.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of specific communication procedures/manuals/formats according with stakeholders/donor’s requirements.
- Support in the organization of events such as seminars, workshops, trainings, among others, including the logistics and the identification/follow up of the participants.
- Develop of communication materials such as fact sheets, press release, success stories, social media publications, videos, among others.
- Manage the communication information system including a data base of photos, videos, documents, publications, among others.
- Support in the develop of content to be published in Acceso’s web site and social media platforms, in coordination with Acceso’s service center development team.
- Coordination with communications areas of stakeholders as required.
- Any other function that is assigned to it.
Other Skills and Attributes
1.Hard Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, international development, or a related area.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in communications or marketing roles including leading communications initiatives or projects within public or private organizations.
- At least three (3) years of professional experiences with projects funded by USAID; experience with regional projects funded by USAID is a plus.
- Desirable: professional experiences working with projected funded by international cooperation entities.
- Management of MS Office platform.
- Strong presentation skills and proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experiences using social media platforms and developing social media content and campaigns.
- Graphic design skills and experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Canva and/or other software
- Development and/or content management of websites through WordPress or similar platforms a plus
- Logistics coordination and event organization.
