Business Development Manager, Central America
Location: Antigua or Guatemala City
Contract: Permanent employee following trial period
Travel: 25% travel
Reporting/Supervisor: COO / Director of Business Development
I. Position Description
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in scaling Acceso’s operations across Central America.
II.Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Client Prospecting:

- Research and prospect potential Extensio clients (NGOs, research institutes, government agencies, agribusinesses) in Guatemala and Honduras by pitching Extensio through calls and meetings; maintain ongoing pipeline
- Prepare client proposals and MOUs
- Lead rollout of Extensio to new partners in Central America, particularly in the kick-off phase, working closely together with the business development, customer success, and content/tech teams
New Acceso projects

- Conduct initial analysis for new Acceso projects (crop analysis, initial market assessment, etc.) in Guatemala and Honduras, in coordination with Acceso central and El Salvador teams
- Develop project plans and financial models
- Complete market research for buyers
- Interview and assess farmer needs
Additional responsibilities

- Research potential grant/funding opportunities for Acceso/Extensio
- Support with grant applications related to Acceso/Extensio
- Research potential speaking and presentation opportunities; represent Acceso at relevant conferences
III. Education, Experience & Languages
-
- 5+ years’ experience in business development and sales, with ability to secure sales and/or partnerships deals
- Bachelor’s degree in business or management preferred
- Exceptional communications skills, both in-person and writing
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Strong project management skills and ability to work independently; problem solver
- Team player
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit and business sense
- Experience with technology is a plus
- Work/volunteering experience with rural or low income communities is ideal
- Passion and commitment to social impact and improving the lives of smallholder farmers
- Advanced user of MS Office Suite applications;
- Fluency in Spanish and English
